Cranial Sacral Therapy

What is Cranial Sacral Therapy?

Craniosacral (CST) is a gentle effective therapy that works with our inherent health to facilitate well being. It is both gentle and safe for babies, children and adults, and suitable for most conditions.

CST works with the natural rhythms and motions of the body. Restrictions in the body’s tissues can be sensed by the therapist and natural ‘motion’ and health is restored to areas where it was previously lost, bringing inherent vitality back to the area.

Unresolved physical and emotional patterns from life experiences can restrict natural, healthy motion within the body, which may later manifest in the symptoms we experience, such as pain, health conditions, and reduced vitality.

CST enables you to reconnect with yourself by helping to create the right conditions for health and well being. It may also have wider implications physically, emotionally and spiritually. As well as enhanced health, energy levels and a shift in symptoms, many clients comment that they are more aware of themselves internally and their surroundings, and some experience profound shifts in themselves and how they relate to the world.

What to Expect

For your first Craniosacral Therapy treatment there is an initial consultation. During the craniosacral session, you lie fully-clothed on a comfortable treatment couch. I will make contact by placing my hands lightly on your body, for example at the head (cranium) and base of the spine (sacrum), and tune in to what is happening by ‘listening’ with my hands.

Most people have a sense of deep relaxation, which will generally last throughout the session. Pulsations, tingling, changes in temperature and a greater awareness of bodily sensations are commonly experienced during treatment.

Sometimes the benefits are not immediately noticeable but become obvious on returning to a familiar environment. The work can involve resolution of past events and is often profoundly relaxing, deeply moving and exhilarating.
